Sri Lanka and the People’s Republic of China have been two friendly nations who posses a glorious bilateral history for more than 2000 years. Since the historical periods of time both countries have experienced strong bilateral relations between each other. In the year 2007, completion of 50 years for the diplomatic ties between Sri Lanka and China was celebrated.
As the People’s Republic of China has emerged as the most gigantic force of development in the entire Asian region, we as Sri Lankans strongly believe that there exist tremendous opportunities, knowledge and expertise that we can acquire from a friendly and a much hospitable nation like China. Therefore, to raise positive awareness among Sri Lankans, of the course China has taken in its rapid developmental process, as well as to alleviate negative and destructive information being built and developed by various western forces against the People’s Republic of China and also to develop and improve a constructive and confident positive image of China, not only within Sri Lanka, but also in a universal exposure and in view of fulfilling the above objectives, the Sri Lanka - China Young Journalists' Forum was established in the mid 2002. Since then, we have organized and held various programmes to boost the bilateral relations between both countries in co-ordination with various officials and responsible personages at the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in most occasions. |
